Surface cleaning is one of the recommended actions in the management of indoor working environments to fight the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic). The SARS-CoV-2 virus can persist on surfaces for a long period (even if it is not proven how long in viral form) depending on the type of material and the Temperature and Humidity values of the environment.
The US Homeland Security Department has published an algorithm to evaluate the decay of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on surfaces (steel and ABS plastic). LSI LASTEM has included this algorithm in the calculations available in its R-Log and M-Log units, dedicated to indoor microclimatic analysis.
R-Log and M-Log, combined with a Temperature and Relative Humidity probe, calculate the decay time for 50%, 99.99%, 99.9999% and 99.9999999% of the stability of the virus. The data can be read on the local display, sent to a PC or, in the case of permanent installations, to a local SCADA system.
