Today is celebrated the world water day (World Water Day) established by the United Nations in 1992, provided for in the agenda of the agenda 21 and result of the conference in Rio.The theme of this year of the Day is "Nature for Water ". The proposal is to explore how we can use nature to overcome the challenges that water poses to us in the 21st century. Environmental damage, together with climate change, is driving the water-related crises we see all over the world. Floods, droughts and water pollution are phenomena amplified by degraded vegetation, soil, rivers and lakes. Neglecting or even worse damaging our ecosystems makes it harder to provide everyone with the water we need to survive and thrive. Nature-based solutions have the potential to solve many of our water challenges, so we need to do much more with the water. 'green infrastructure' and harmonize it with the 'gray' infrastructure wherever possible. Planting new forests, reconnecting rivers to floodplains and restoring wetlands will re-establish the water cycle and improve human health and livelihoods. The state of health of rivers, lakes and seas and of the soil must be constantly monitored to check their health.
